Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong says peace has returned to the entire state after the killing of 26 innocent commuters in Bassa Local Government Area.
The Governor stated this to newsmen after he briefed President Buhari on the current security situation in the state.
To quickly douse tension and prevent reprisals, Governor Lalong said the state inter-religious committee, comprising leaders of religious groups, and other stakeholders, was pushed into action to dissuade their members from taking the laws into their own hands.
He explained that arrests had been made, stressing that retrospection would be applied to their records, and dealt with accordingly.
Governor Lalong said he sought Federal Government’s intervention in catering for displaced persons in the state, explaining that President Buhari had referred him to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs for urgent attention.
On the breach of security at the campus of the University of Jos, Governor Lalong said he had provided adequate security to protect the environment.
