Governors to support health workers in fight against COVID19

The Nigeria Governors Forum NGF, says Governors will set up infection prevention and control committees in the states to support the role of health workers who are at the frontline of the COVID 19 pandemics to curb the spread of the virus.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ekiti state Dr Kayode stated this in a teleconference meeting with his colleagues.

Governor Fayemi explained that Governors are working to improve their operations by establishing emergency hotlines that will be integrated into the operations of their Task Force on COVID-19.
 After a briefing from the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, on activities of the PTF, the Governors commended the Presidential Task Force and NCDC for ramping the country’s testing and contact tracing capacity during the 2-weeks period of the lockdown and called for greater collaboration with States who are the primary stakeholders of the COVID-19 response.

They also applauded Aliko Dangote, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele and other philanthropic organizations, on the delivery of healthcare equipment and commitment on the COVID-19 response in the country.
