A group, Safe the Poor Coalition, SPC, has expressed satisfaction with the distribution pattern of the COVID-19 palliatives to the poor and vulnerable Nigerians by the Federal Government.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the National Coordinator Mr. Emeka Enechi and the Secretary, Mallam Adamu Maikasuwa.
The group which says it has been following the distribution of the palliatives and considers criticisms by some individuals and members of the National Assembly against the exercise as unfair.
The statement makes it clear that the palliatives being handled by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, made effective use of the National Social Register of Poor and Vulnerable Households in its distribution.
It adds that for the avoidance of doubt, the authors of the National Social Register never said they covered the 774 local government areas of the country; rather they listed what they covered as 421 local government areas, 4,347 wards, 43,258 communities, 2.25 million poor of the poorest households and 9.54 million extreme poor.
