INEC Urges CSOs To Beef Up Voter Sensitization

Benue state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Sam Egwu wants Civil society organisations CSOs in the state to beef up voter education and mobilization campaign to ensure credible elections.

Professor Egwu appealed while speaking with representatives of CSOs at the INEC headquarters, in Makurdi.


He described CSOs as vital units in ensuring the success of the electoral process and called for collaboration with all stakeholders saying that the commission has put in place measures to guarantee free, fair and credible elections.

State Chairperson Nigeria Association of Women Journalists Comrade Elizabeth Achagh while commending INEC on measures put in place to check irregularities in the polls, urged them to do more in the area of media education to address voter apathy for success to be achieved.

Joy Iwuwo, Dr Helen Teghtegh, and Isaac Kugber enjoined INEC to tackle misinformation on social media, engage community mobilizers, address insecurity and provide inclusiveness to encourage wider participation.
