Only 168, 613 students got over 200 out of the possible 400 marks in the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, administered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

This comes after JAMB has enabled schools to choose their own cutoff points.

A review of the document issued by the Board following its Policy Meeting in Abuja earlier this week revealed that the performance was far from the 404, 740 candidates who scored over 200 out of the 1.9 million who sat for the 2020 examination.

According to JAMB’s 2021 analysis, 168, 613 candidates score 200 or above; 64,323 candidates scored 190-199, and 90, 688 candidates scored between 180 and 189.

117,970 students earned between 170 and 179 points, while 149,421 students earned between 160 and 169 points.

369,023 applicants had a score between 140 and 159, whereas 170,816 candidates received a score between 130 and 139.
