Kagara kidnap: Gov Bello Orders Closure Of Boarding Schools

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has directed the closure of all boarding Schools in four bandits prone local government councils of the state with immediate effect.

The four local government councils are that of Rafi Munya Shiroro and Mariga.

He gave the directive while addressing Newsmen in Minna following the abduction of students, teachers and family members of Government Science College, Kagara.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello maintained that such schools should remain closed until the situation improved.

He described the situation as serious and sad , urging the people of the state to provide useful information to security agencies for necessary action.

On the demand of five hundred million naira ransom by bandits, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said it was not the policy of Niger state government to pay ransom to bandits because they would use those resources for the purchase of additional weapons.

He however explained that Niger state government was willing to assist any repentant bandits to settle for other useful and viable venture.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello also called on the Federal Government to deploy all resources needed to rescue Niger state and gave an assurance that Niger state government would not rest on its oars until abducted victims were released.

Radio Nigeria reports that twenty-seven students of Government Science College Kagara were abducted three staff kidnapped with twelve family members of staff and one student killed during the attack by bandits yesterday.
