Kebbi Speaker, Deputy Impeached

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has impeached the Speaker of the House Ismaila Abdulmumuni Kamba and his Deputy Muhammad Buhari Aliro.

20 out of 24 members impeached the speaker.

The Acting Clerk of the House, Ibrahim Usman Ahmed Bunzu, announced the removal of the Speaker before the flow of the House in a fifteen-minute sitting while member representing Fakai Constituency, Lawal Haruna Gele, moved a motion for the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker.

Speaking to newsmen over the impeachment, Chairman House Committee on Information and Culture, Mohammed Tukur, gave no reason for the impeachment of both the Speaker and his Deputy, but said the House wanted to effect changes.

The new Speaker, Mohammed Abubakar Lolo was the Deputy Chief Whip and Chairman House Committee on Religious Affairs while the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Usman was the Chairman House Committee on Economic Planning and Due Process.
