Kogi Assembly Confirms Appointment of New Chief Judge

Kogi State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Justice Sunday Omeiza Otu as the substantive Chief Judge the State.

Justice Otu has been serving in acting capacity since January twelfth this year after the retirement of the immediate past Chief Judge, Justice Henry Olusiyi.

The Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole described Justice Otu as a man with wealth of experience that is fit for the job.

The Chief Judge while speaking with Newsmen shortly after his confirmation, expressed gratitude to God, Governor Yahaya Bello and the Assembly for the confidence reposed in him.

He noted that since assumption of office, he has consolidated on the remarkable achievements of his predecessors and urged judicial officers to ensure hard work to attain great heights.

Meanwhile, a bill for a law to establish Kogi State Erosion and Watershed Management Agency has passed through first reading.

The bill seeks to give legal framework to the agency for effective management of Erosion and other environment issue.
