Kogi State Government has been called upon to provide infrastructural facilities for the State Judiciary towards efficient dispensation of Justice.
The Chairman, Lokoja Chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Mr Sam Owoyomi made the call at the Valedictory Court Session in honour of Justice Sunday Omeiza Otu in Lokoja.
Mr Owoyomi said the call became imperative in view of the dilapidated structure in some courts which has make it difficult for Lawyers and Judges to perform thier duties effectively.
He also appealed to the State government to also construct the road leading to the judiciary headquarters, State House of Assembly and the Federal Court which he stressed has become almost impassable.
The NBA Boss described the outgone Chief Judge as a man of impeccable character urging the incoming administration to give attention to the appointment of more judges in the State Judiciary.
Speaking on behalf of High Court Judges, Justice Richard Olorunfemi attributed the elevation of the outgone Chief Judge to God’s benevolence and wished Justice Otu well in retirement.
In his speech, the outgone Chief Judge, Justice Sunday Otu expressed appreciation to God for his elevation and the State Government for allowing a peaceful transition in the State Judiciary.
In his address, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja promised to continue to the support smooth dispensation of Justice in the State.
Governor Bello described Justice Otu as a jurist per excellence with a tract record of integrity in service.
The Governor assured of his commitment to tackle the challenges earlier enumerated by the NBA chairman.
