Kogi Gov Set To Tackle Flood In The State

Kogi state government has reiterated it’s commitment to tackle on going flood in the state.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Victor Omofaiye stated this in an interview with Radio Nigerian shortly after an assessment tour of the most affected areas in lokoja, the state capital.

The commissioner said the assessment tour was to ascertain the level of damage done by flood in the areas visited and begin to tackle them head on.

Chief Omofaiye noted that the present administration will not relent efforts towards tackling Environmental problems.

He explained that aggressive awareness campaigns were put in place aimed at sensitizing people living within flood prone areas with the view of relocating to higher grounds.

The Commissioner called on the people affected by the flood to have faith in the programs of the state and federal government which according to him are aimed at providing succour to them especially at this trying moment.
