Kwara state government says it will Flagg-off the year 2020 cropping season to enable farmers commence planting and ensure food security in the state.

The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development , Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin made the disclosure in a statement issued to Journalists in Ilorin.

According to her the ministry will commence the exercise with the deployment of tractors, planters, boom sprayers and harvesters to create awareness and encourage farmers adopt mechanised farming.

Afolabi-Oshatimehin said the exercise will enhance the productivity of farmers.

She noted that the flag off will avail local farmers the opportunity to accessing the machines as well as demonstrating good agricultural practices on commercial scale.
