Kwara State Governor, Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has said that 2022 budget of the state will focus on industrialisation and widening of the state’s economic and revenue base, through investments and support for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises SMEs
Governor AbdulRazaq disclosed this while speaking at a stakeholders meeting on 2022 budget policy direction, organized by the State Ministry of Finance and Planning.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Kayode Alabi, also said that government’s investments in basic education, healthcare sectors, rural development and workers’ welfare would continue uninterrupted
He said huge investments in SMEs, as would be made in the new fiscal year, will create thousands of jobs, widen the tax net, and reduce poverty and ultiimately lead to economic diversification.
In her welcome address, Commissioner for Finance and Planning, Mrs. Florence Oyeyemi said the programme was organized to assist the Governor in preparing for the budget that would be all inclusive in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for policy makers to be properly guided on physical and monetary policy direction of the government in preparation for the year 2022 budget in order to meet the current economic reality.
Stakeholders at the programme stressed the need for government to make budget preparation to enable her give priority attention to programmes that would consolidate on the gains of present administration.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the State Government, Prof Mamman Saba Jibril, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and other heads of MDAs in the state.
