N/Army 81 Divison gets new GOC

A new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division of the Nigerian Army has been appointed.

Major-General Godwin Umelo of the Army Headquarters, Department of Army Training and Operations, takes over from Major-General Olu Irefin who has been re-assigned as the GOC, 6 Division.

Handing over the flag of authority to the new GOC, the outgoing officer, Major-General Irefin expressed satisfaction that he was leaving with a high sense of fulfillment noting that the division enjoyed tremendous support in training and carried out successful exercises.

While thanking the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai for his support, Major-General Irefin also commended the discipline, commitment and hard work of his officers and soldiers during his one year stay in the division asking that same cooperation be extended to his successor

The incoming GOC, Major-General Umelo promised to continue from where his predecessor stopped.

Senior Officers from all units and Commanders were on ground to witness the handing over ceremony, including Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Oladele Daji, Corp Commander, Nigerian Army Education, Major General Muktar Bunza and Commander 9 Brigade, Brigadier-General Etsu Musa Ndagi.
