NANS to Launch Operation School to Farm Campaign

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) is to launch an operation school to farm campaign to institutionalize economic empowerment of Nigerian students, reduce the problem of youths Unemployment and alleviate poverty.

The National President of NANS, Comrade Sunday Dayo Asefon stated this at a news briefing ahead of NANS at 40 Anniversary Celebration in Abuja.

Comrade Asefon said the student union will also commence the Construction of well-equipped Skill Acquisition Centres in Abuja, Lagos, and Six-Geo-political zones.

Comrade Asefon explained that the proposed launch of “Operation School to Farm” is a response of Nigerian students to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to all State Governors to establish farm Estates to boost the Federal Government’s food sufficiency and agricultural revolution programme.

Comrade Sunday Dayo Asefon said NANS will also launch the “Nigerian Students Travel safe and Cheap Scheme to ameliorate the sufferings of students and eliminate the threat posed by kidnappers, Armed robbers, Bandits and carnage on roads arising from motor accidents.

He called on President Buhari to prevail on the 36 state Governors, FCT ministers, Ministers of Agriculture, Education, Trade and Investment, Labour and Productivity, Youths and Sports, and concerned Agencies of Government to work together with NANS to bring the Legacy Projects into fruition.

According to him, NANS will be approaching the Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Managing Director of Nigeria Railway Corporation and owners of Airlines and Transport Companies works out Rebate Tickets for Nigerian Students whenever they travel in order to reduce the hardship they face in pursuing their academic career.

Comrade Asefon said “the key objectives of our Legacy projects are to contribute meaningfully to the concerted efforts of State and Federal Governments to tackle Youth unemployment and poverty in the country, redirect talents and energies of some Nigerian Youths away from internet Fraud and other criminal activities to gainful employment and entrepreneurial activities,

The NANS President enjoined the Organized Private Sector, Federal and State Governments, and other well-meaning Nigerians to support the laudable Initiatives of Nigerian Students.
