Nasarawa State government in collaburation with federal ministry of Special Duties and inter governmental affairs have Inaugurated the Nasarawa State Implementation Committee on Community safety and human security.
Inauguration the Committee at the government house lafia, minister of special Duties and inter governmental affairs Senator George Akume said the move was to address the perennial security threats across the Country.
Members of the implementation Committee on Community safety and human security comprise, Representatives of the Nigerian police, Department of state services,NSCDC, civil society organizations religious and Community leaders among others.
The committee members are expected to involve strategies expecially at the grassroots level on how to stem the tide of Insecurity across the Country.
Inaugurating the committee, minister of special Duties senator George Akume said federal government along cannot achieve community safety and human security without the support of relevant stakeholders,such as traditional rulers, Community leaders security Agencies and civil society organizations.
The minister explained that the committee is also designed to create jobs to the teaming unemployed youths across the seven hundred and seventy four local government areas of the country including the federal capital territory.
Governor Abdullahi Sule said the choice of Nasarawa State to be the pilot base for the Programme is apt and Commendable coming at a time that the country is facing security threats.
Governor Sule noted that the community safety and human security is a collective mechanism to provide a platform for all tiers of government and relevant stakeholders to work towards mobilising grassroots intelegence for security management system.
On thier parts, Representatives of minister of interior Mr idiloye Oleyemi and that of minister of Defence major General Musa Atta both expressed thier ministry’s determination to support the Iniciative.
The event had in attendance top government functionaries, religious, Community leaders among others.
