Nasarawa State Government has launched a three weeks Employability and Entrepreneurship Training Programme for youths in the state.
The programme was anchored by the newly established Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Office in partnership with the private sector and other employers of labour.
At the opening of the programme in Lafia , Governor Abdullahi Sule said emerging trends in the country had called for a new thinking towards engaging more youths in skills acquisition for economic development.
Governor Abdullahi Sule stated that the state government had concluded plans to establish a Graduate Training Academy to equip fresh graduates in the state with the 21st century skills to make them employable and employers.
The Governor maintained that youths would continue to be given attention in all programmes of the state government as part of steps towards addressing restiveness and indolence among the youths.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Focal Person , Human Capital Development Nasarawa State Mrs Habiba Balarabe called on the youths to take advantage of the numerous programmes focusing on their economic empowerment and desist from activities that are counterproductive.
Mrs Habiba Balarabe stated that over 80 beneficiaries who are mostly graduates were mobilized from the 13 local government areas of the state to participate in the first phase of the training.
One of the beneficiares Mr Alade Babangidabwho is physically challenged,said the programme had given him hope to earn a living having been unemployed for ten years after graduation.
