Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Othman Bala Adam has described Federal Government’s decision in postponing the 20th National Sports Festival as welcome development for the well-being of the country s sports men and Women.
He beard his mind while on a visit to the State athletes who are currently in camp at various location in Lafia.
Reacting on the Federal Governments decision to suspend the 20th National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020 after his visit to the State athletes and coaches in thrir training camp in Lafia, State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Othman Bala Adam said the postponement of the sports festival was justified because of the global health concern of the COVID-19.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving funds for closed camping for the athletes.
While speaking to the Stste athletes who have been in a closed camp since last week sunday ,the Commissioner appreciated the athletes for their commitment, urging them not to be distracted by this development but continue with training for Uptimal performance. INSERT
Speaking to Radio Nigeria Precious Fm shortly after the Commissioner visit to their camp,some of the State athletes expressed disappointment over the postponement of the sports festival.
The State Athletes have been in a closed camp at Donouma Primary School,Government Science Secondary School Lafia,Lafia City Stadium and Project Quarters Tennis Court since on Sunday 8th March and their allowances have been duely paid to the athletes to boast their moral.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday 17TH March approved the postponement of the 20th National Sports Festival due to the spread of corona virus across the world.
