Nasarawa State Gov Signs For Irrigation Farming

Nasarawa state government has signed an agreement with the lower Benue River Basin development authority on cultivation of five hundred hectares of land for irrigation farming to enhance food sufficiency and to boost socio economic well being of the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule gave this indication during an inspection tour of the site in Doma local government area of the state.

It is no longer news that the advent of covid nineteen across the globe and the country has seriously brought untold hardship to both the health and economic sectors of the nations.

It is against this backdrop that governor Abdullahi Sule signed an agreement with the lower Benue river Basin development authority for rice irrigation farming to engaged one thousand youths to be self employed through Agriculture

Speaking on the rational behind the agreement between the state government and the lower Benue river Basin development authority, Governor Abdullahi Sule said it was meant to enhance economic activities of the state and to make youths to be self employed even after covid nineteen.

Governor Sule explained that in view of the economic challenges facing the nation and the state there is urgent need for the government to expedite ction on the youths Agricultural programme.

The state governor noted that the idea behind the inspection is to see the location of the Dam vis-à-vis the farm land for the next line of action

The governor pointed out that he was pleased with the area for the two season rice farming and one season beni seed farming.
