By Chris Nyamtu – Lafia

Nasarawa State Government says Internally Generated Revenue for the state has dropped from one point two billion to about 300 million Naira due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning in the state Mr Haruna Ogbole gave this indication while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Lafia.

Mr. Haruna Ogbole said as at February this year, over one point two billion Naira was generated as IGR but since the recorded case of COVID- 19, the state government had continued to record low revenue.

He however stated that the state government had adopted other ways of income such as blockage of financial leakages, staff verification and cutting down cost of governance to meet up some of its essential obligations.

The Commissioner also expressed concern over the garnishee order by the court which according to him had further slowed down activities following inability of the state government to access funds from any of its bank accounts.
