As teams gear up for the commencement of the 2020/2021 Nigerian Professional Football League Season, officials and players of Nasarawa United Football Club have undergone COVID-19 test at the Nasarawa State Agency For lnfectious Disease and Reseearch Centre Lafia the state capital.
Team Manager of the Club,Solomon Babanjah, told Sports Journaists shortly after their samples were collected that the test was necessary as it was part of the requirements listed out by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) and League Management Company(LMC) to clubs before the commencement of the new football league season in the country.
He explained that all those that matter in the Lafia-based Club underwent the mandatory test, stating further that the results were being anticipated in due course.
While thanking the Nasarawa State Government and officials of the Agency for Infectious Disease and Research Centre for the prompt response and dedication to the Club, Solomon Babanjah praised the resilience of the Club Chairman, Barrister Isaac Danladi for always insisting the right things are done and in time.
Speaking also Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Health,Princess Margret Elayo who supervised the process, applauded the maturity of the players and officials before and during the testing, expressing joy that the club took advantage of the facilities in the state to conduct the test.
Princess Margret assured that she and her team would work round the clock to get the results ready at the expected time.
The League Management Company LMC had, early this week, released the fixtures for the new league season with Nasarawa United hosting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in their opening game on 6th December, 2020.
