Nasarawa State Government has banned operations of commercial motorcycles and tricycles in the state as part of measures to prevent spread of COVID-19.

A statement by Governor Abdullahi Sule says the ban became necessary following alleged case of smuggling people into the state from other parts of the country that the pandemic has been recorded.

The ban which takes effect from Thursday at 8pm would allow only private motorcycles to operate in the other parts of the state where there is no total lockdown but limited to one passenger.

The statement calls on security agencies, traditional rulers as well as religious leaders to step up efforts towards ensuring strict compliance to the ban.
