National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members serving in Kwara State, today embarked on a unity walk to mark the Forty-eighth anniversary of the scheme.
The exercise, which took place at the State orientation camp, Yikpata, was infused with the cultural carnival usually held on the last Saturday during the orientation exercise.
Kwara State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, said the unity walk symbolized the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria.
The Kwara NYSC Coordinator noted the the scheme remains one of the most formidable tools for national unity, social and ethno religious integration among youths from diverse backgrounds.
Corps members Gospel Asuquo from Akwa- Ibom and Deborah Fagunwa from Ogun State, noted that the importance of the NYSC to the unity of Nigeria cannot be overemphasised.
They therefore, charged fellow youths to embrace factors that unite the country and work on the minor differences.
Highlight of the anniversary include cultural display, dance and lighting of the unity torch.
