NDLEA arrests Pastor with drums of meth

A cleric, Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong has been apprehended for alleged possession of three drums of crystal methamphetamine, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The Agency said the shipment was imported from India.

The consignment weighing 90 kilograms and loaded into a commercial bus with registration number RSH 691XC at Ojuelegba in Lagos on Saturday 6th August 2022 was intercepted during a stop and search operation along Umuahia – Ikot Ekpene Highway,” NDLEA’s Director of Media & AdvocacyMr Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday.

“The drug, which was packed 30kg in each drum, was intended for Pastor  Effiong, who was apprehended in a follow-up operation at Oron beach in Oron.” Mr Babafemi stated.

The drums were intended to be taken to the Republic of Cameroon.
