The International Centre For Migration Policy Development (ICMPD Nigeria) is to collaborate with the Nigeria Immigration Service to strengthen the capacity of personnel towards effective border security.
Head, ICMPD, West Africa Office, Mojisola Sodeyinde, made this known during the signing of memorandum of understanding and inauguration of the Project Steering Committee in Abuja.
The project was aimed at facilitating interventions for the capacity building from the Danish government.
Mrs Sodeyinde said in view of the challenges faced by the Nigeria Immigration Service, the project became imperative to reposition the service for greater efficiency in line with international best practices.
In his good will message, the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria Sune Krogstrup said the border management would be reinforced for efficient service delivery and facilitate cross border movements.
Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who commended ICPMD for the collaboration, said the projects would help to strengthen the institution capacity of the service through technical support.
The Minister told his audience that the Federal government would continue to strive to provide enabling environment for its foreign partners.
