Nigerian Navy Reiterates Commitment To Secure Territorial Waters

Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Oladele Daji has reiterated the Nigerian Navy’s position on dealing ruthlessly with sea criminals.

Rear Admiral Oladele Daji, represented by Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Tanko Pani, while flagging off  ‘Exercise Awkward’, said the Western Naval  Command has resolved to get rid of all forms of criminality in its areas of responsibility.

The Chief of Staff noted that its personnel was combat-ready to defend the country against external threats while protecting the maritime business from attacks by pirates.

He said the exercise is in line with the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas’ mission to deploy a naval force that is well trained, orgainised and highly motivated to discharge its constitutional roles professionally and efficiently for the defence of Nigeria. 

13 Naval Vessels and a Helicopter, are among facilities and equipment mobilised for the operation.
