NLC Calls For Fair Treatment Of Employees

Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has called on the employers of labour in public and private sectors not to use workers as sacrificial lambs for the economic challenge thrown up by the COVID-19 pandemic.

NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba made the call online while addressing workers for this year’s Workers Day celebration in Abuja.

Comrade Wabba who noted that apart from huge lose of human lives globally, the COVID-19 challenge has imposed a harsh economic crisis affecting workers and employers alike.

He argued that since the nation’s currency has been hit with the worst onslaught ever as a result of the pandemic weakening the purchasing power therein, any attempt by employers to reduce the meagre salaries being paid to workers would subject them to untold hardship.

The NLC President also commended the federal government and some state governments for pragmatic steps in curtailing the spread of the virus as well the health and essential workers  for their commitment to end the dreaded disease.
