NLC Opposes Salary Deduction Of Workers

The President, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba says no employer in public and private sector has any right to deduct workers’ salaries arbitrarily on account of COVID-19 pandemic.

Comrade Wabba who was reacting to some reported cases of slashing of workers’ salaries described the action as insensitivity to the plight of workers and a violation of law as well as the principle of Collective Bargaining Agreement.

He therefore directed the State Council of NLC and leadership of the various trade unions in public and private sector organizations to be vigilant and mobilize to resist such move.

NLC President also explained that the celebration of Workers Day this year was low key worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world, pointing out that the May Day message for the celebration would be circulated to workers.
