Nasarawa State To Join League Of Oil Producing States

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC is to begin drilling the first oil well in Nasarawa State in March this year.

The group Managing Director of NNPC Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari disclosed this when he received a high power delegation from Nasarawa State on a Courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

Addressing the delegation, the Group Managing Director of NNPC Mallam Mele Kyari explained that the corporation is working assiduously to exploit and harness all the hydrocarbon across the Country for the benefit of Nigerians noting that Nasarawa State will soon join the link of oil-producing states in the Country.

The NNPC GMD said the corporation had already carried out all its surveys and data gathering for the commencement of the exercise in the Keana local government area of Nasarawa state.

Corroborating the GMD decision, State Minister of Petroleum resources Timipre Sylva explained that Nigeria has a lot of oil waiting to be exploited and harnessed for utilisation and pointed out that the ministry is fully ready for oil exploration in keana.

Earlier, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state appreciated the efforts of the federal government and the management of the NNPC for the commitment demonstrated in Kolmani in Bauchi state and noted that the move is a clear indication that Nigeria is a great Country with full potential.

Governor Sule informed the GMD that the state is interested and ready for the oil exploration assuring him of adequate security during the exercise.

The high-powered delegation led by governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state had some prominent personalities including the first Democratically elected governor of the State and National Chairman of All Progressives Congress APC Senator Abdullahi Adamu, immediate past governor of the State Senator Al-makura former state Minister of Justice Musa Elayo, Executive Director National primary health care development Agency Doctor Faisal Shuaib, and some traditional rulers.
