NSCDC Arrests Suspected Rail line Vandals in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has impounded an articulated vehicle conveying vandalized railway facilities in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.

The state Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Mr. Jerry Victor stated this while parading the suspected vandals in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.

Mr. Jerry Victor explained that the vehicle conveying 630 pieces of cut rails and 90 pieces of rail slippers suspected to have been vandalized from Mada Station in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state, was intercepted in an operation led by the state commandant of NSCDC Mr.Abbas Bappa.

Mr. Jerry however pointed out that the drivers of the vehicle were assisting the command with information about the people who hired them to convey the vandalized railway facilities.

In an interview, one of the suspects, Mr Masaudu Ibrahim who identified himself as one of the drivers of the vehicle said they were hired from Katsina state to convey the railway items.

He stated that they were paid 500 000 Naira to convey the items to Ilorin in Kwara state but on reaching Mada Station where the items were hidden, they insisted that 200 000 Naira be added having noticed they were railway facilities.
