NULGE Suspends Strike

The Nigeria Union of Local Government employees, NULGE has suspended its strike over non-implementation of new minimum wage.

President of NULGE FCT Chapter, Comrade Abubakar Alhassan-Yakubu made this known at the end of the State Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

He explained that the Union has been agitating for implementation of the new minimum wage and payment of accrued arrears of twenty months without success.

The staff of the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory had embarked on industrial action that lasted for about two weeks.

Comrade Abubakar Yakubu said based on intense negotiations by some critical stakeholders between the members of the National Assembly representing FCT, and the Six Area Council Chairmen of the Federal Capital Territory, the Union has decided to suspend the ongoing industrial action and Directs Staff to resume work on Thursday.
