Obaseki Certificate: Court Fixes January 9 For Judgment

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed Saturday, January 9 for judgment in a certificate forgery suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

Presiding Judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed fixed the date after parties in the suit adopted their final addresses.

APC and one of its members, Mr. Williams Edobor, are praying the court to disqualify Mr. Obaseki as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 19, 2020 poll.

Their prayer is anchored on the grounds that Mr. Obaseki allegedly forged his Bachelor of Arts Degree Certificate in Classical Studies which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in support of his nomination as a candidate in the Edo State governorship election.
