Federal Government has commenced physical verification of individuals whose properties where affected by the ongoing dualization of 220 kilometre Abuja – Lafia – Makurdi road in Nasarawa and Benue states for immediate compensation.
Minister of Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola stated this at the Project Site in Azuba Village of Nasarawa State.
Mr. Babatunde Fashola said the federal government was committed to ensuring completion in record time considering the life changing potentials of the project to the people.
While calling on communities affected by the construction of the road project to remain calm, the minister said the federal government had been in consultation with both Nasarawa and Benue state governments to ensure that genuine owners of properties destroyed for the construction were compensated directly not through any middlemen.
Project Manager of the construction company handling the project, China Harbour Engineering Company, Mr. Li Qiang Qiang said work had reached between 49 and 60 percent completion.
The Minister of Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola during the visit to Nasarawa State, inspected the ongoing Federal Secretariat and 1500 Housing Estate Projects in the state.
