The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa State have expressed concern over renewed violence in the southern part of the state where some communities are target of attacks by unknown gunmen.
In a statement by the state public relations officer of the party,Ibrahim Hamza alleges that the attacks are always carried out in particular settlements in Keana,Obi,Awe and Doma local government areas whenever a general election approaches.
According to Ibrahim Hamza “most communities in the areas affected are known to have reasonable number of polling units that produce thousands of votes but each time election approaches, the innocent citizens from these areas can no longer have Peace rather unabated crises would displace them from their respective homes, which always hinder their participation during elections.
The statement describes the attacks as politically motivated by enemies of democracy with intent to cause confusion and disperse communities to deprive them the opportunity to exercise their franchise..
While condenming the attacks, the PDP called on the state government and security agencies to wake up to their responsibility of protection of lives and property of citizens especially before during and after the forthcoming general election .
The statement however sympathises with the affected persons and communities of recent attacks in kadarko, Keana local government area for the loss of loved ones.
