Plateau State Mobile Courts Begins Trials of Suspected Looters.

The mobile court set up to try accused persons arrested on Sunday 25th oct during curfew hours and alleged looters of public and private property on same day have sat today where the offenders where summarily tried .

Correspondent reports that the court which sat at Bassa local government of the state had eight different courts which sat simultaneously. At the chief magistrate court and area courts bassa.

The accused persons were represented by a team of about forty young lawyers who offered pro bono services(free service).

Some of the accused who pleaded guilty where convicted and fined ten thousand naira or face four months imprisonment while others where fined as much as forty thousand naira with an option of one year imprisonment. others bagged as less as two thousand naira as confirmed by some of the lawyers.

How ever those who pleaded not guilty were remanded and would have to wait for the next adjourned dates.

Among those tried and convicted are minors ages twelve to seventeen.
