Police Kill 14 Bandits in Benue

A report from Benue State says fourteen bandits were in the early hours of today gunned down in Katsina Ala township during an exchange of fire with the police.

Several others are also said to have escaped with gunshot injuries.

Police Public Relations officer, DSP Sewuese Anene who made this known to our crime correspondent explained that those killed were among a gang of bandits numbering more than fifty that invaded the Katsina Ala police station to rescue five of their members in detention.

She said the bandits stormed the station at about one am but were unsuccessful as the police men were already at alert.

DSP Anene maintained that the police were on the trail of some of the gang members that fled and enjoined people of Kastina-Ala to remain calm and avail every useful information about the bandits to the police.
