Police Warn Against Jungle Justice in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra state has advised Members of the public to desist from engaging in jungle justice and to exercise restraint always.

The Commissioner of Police Mr Echeng Echeng who made the call in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga explains that people should endeavor to take any suspect apprehended to the nearest Police Station, as this would afford the Police the opportunity to conduct an appropriate investigation and bring them to justice.

According to the release, this is part of efforts to curtail security challenges and enhance public safety and peace in the state especially during this period of ‘’Ember Month’’.

It also enjoins the people to obey the Government’s directive on the ban of tinted vehicles and covered plate numbers as well as reports any Police infringement by calling the Command control room number.

The statement directs all hotels to promptly submit their guest list daily to the nearest divisional Police headquarters while all proprietors of private and public hospitals, admit but promptly report anyone with bullet wounds or related injuries.

It calls on the residents to report promptly any suspicious movement within their environment to the nearest police

Station or call emergency numbers and also report promptly any missing vehicles to the nearest police state.

The Commissioner of Police advise Parents and guardians to pay closer attention to the activities of their children/wards

While reaffirming his commitment towards consolidating on the gains in crime prevention and restoration of law and order as well as improving safety and security of lives in the State, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng assures that the Police, the Military, and other Security Agencies are firm to contain any security situation that may arise and prevent threats to lives and property in the State.
