The Presidency says the incident that occurred at the weekend in the State House did not jeopardise the life and health of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said in a statement that an incident among the occupants of the State House has led to the arrest of some staff by the police.
It did not say what the incident was that happened outside the main resident of the president.
It says the President Buhari was not in any form of danger arising, either from COVID19 or the incident by security personnel, which is under investigation.
Armed guards and other security personnel assigned to the State House received the necessary training and weapons handling, and that where they come short, their relevant agencies have their rules and regulations to immediately address them, the presidential aide wrote.
He said the president acted in compliance with the rule of law and the police have been authorised to carry out a proper investigation.
The statement wonders how the occurrence of the ‘minor incident’ is being used by some critics to justify attacks on the government and the person of the President.
