Radio Nigeria Receives Award of Excellence for Science Reportage

The Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed says lecturers who delay students’ research work will be sanctioned.

He gave the warning during the Script Graduation and Induction of Institute of Strategic Development and Communication Scholars and Award ceremony in Keffi.

According to Professor Mohammed, the university cannot thank Radio Nigeria enough for it’s unflinching partnership with the institution for many years in scientific reportage, noted that it is important to train and retrain Journalists’ for effective communication of scientific findings.

The Vice Chancellor further called on students to make their studies their priority to enable them to graduate as at when due as no lecturer would be spared for deliberately frustrating students’ academic pursuit.

Executive Director, Institute of Strategic Development Communication, ISDEVCOM, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura said the Induction was to give undergraduates and postgraduate students’ orientation on what is expected of them in the course of their studies.

Director-general, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Doctor Mansur Liman explained that the meritorious Award showed the giant strides the Corporation has taken in Science Reporting.

Represented by the FRCN Zonal Director, North-Central Zonal Headquarters, Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Malam Haruna Idris, Doctor Liman who appreciated the ISDEVCOM for the timely recognition, called on staff of the Corporation to access and avail themselves various trainings for effective science reportage among others.

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, was as a ‘Station of Excellence in Science Communication 2021’.

Highlight of the event was presentation of awards to Nigeria Television Authority, NTA News 24, outstanding graduating students, dance performance by Theatre Arts students and group photograph.
