The House of Representatives has received the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons Bill 2021 as well as the Explosives Bill 2021.
In a communication to the Speaker, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, President Muhammadu Buhari said the bill was to transform the Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons into a National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
Mr. Gbajabiamila while reading out the letter to the House said the bill was to reduce the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the country.
The explosive Bill 2021 on the other hand was to regulate the manufacture, storage, possession, use, distribution, purchase, sale, transportation, importation, and exportation of explosives.
The President also sent a request for concurrence approval for projects under the 2018-2022 External Borrowing Plan for speedy implementation and National Development.
