The House of Representatives has threatened to activate relevant sections of the Constitution to compel the Executive Secretary, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Mr. Abdulkadir Saidu to appear before the House Committee on Finance.

Chairman of the committee, James Faleke during the ongoing interactive session on the 2020-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) said the House of Representatives will not be cowed in its quest to ascertain the actual volume of premium motor spirit (PMS) and other petroleum products in the country.

The Lawmaker explained that a review of documents submitted by the executive secretary showed contradicting figures which prompted a reschedule of his appearance before the committee for the ongoing probe on a date which he (the Executive Secretary, PPPRA) chose but yet failed to appear.

According to the committee chairman, the figures that will be presented by the PPPRA will determine the volume that is being consumed in the country and the under-recovery.
