Rotary Club Establishes Production Centre in Nasarawa State

The Rotary Club of Lafia Central has inaugurated Biofuel Production Centre in Angwa Rere, Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, to boost socioeconomic activities of the area.

Inaugurating the Centre, District Governor, 9152, Rotarian Ayoola Oyedokun said they have trained over twenty residents of the community to take charge of the Centre.

According to him, the Biofuel Production Centre would serve as an alternative to charcoal use, which was banned by the government of Nasarawa State since December 2021.

Rotarian Oyedokun further explained that the Club has provided the necessary machines for the trainees to kick off operation and, also, established a business outfit for the community, to boost its socioeconomic status.

The District Governor used the occasion to stress the need for indigenous people of the state to join the Rotary Club, to identify more communities to enable enable it to extend its humanitarian services to nooks and crannies of the state.

Changemaker President, Rotary Club of Lafia Central, Esienanwan Esien Efiong, PhD, explained that the Club’s projects are targeted at Seven Focus Areas of Rotary International to include: Education and Literacy, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Economic and Community Development among others.

Dr Efiong also announced that so far the twenty trainees have built capacity to many other people in the community, and they have produced over one hundred and fifty briquettes.

Chief of Angwan Rere, Alhaji Abubakar Musa said the community cannot thank thier benefactor, Rotary Club enough, for the laudable empowerment project in their favour.

The traditional ruler promised that the community would safeguard the Biofuel Production Centre to create jobs for teeming unemployed youths across the state.
