Sabina Nessa murder: London Police Arrest 36-Year-Old-Man

Police in the UK capital, London, say they have arrested a 36-year-old man, marking what they call a “significant development” in the investigation of the murder of Sabina Nessa.

The Metropolitan Police said on Sunday that the man was arrested overnight in southern England and was being held in custody.

He is the third man arrested over the killing of the primary schoolteacher, with two other men previously detained and then released, but police stressed the latest arrest was a “significant development”.

Ms Nessa’s death — as she went to meet a friend just a few minutes from her home — has fuelled concerns that women aren’t safe on the streets of London.

Initially, the police reported they had arrested a 38-year-old man, but later corrected his age to 36.

On Friday, CCTV footage of a man deemed important to their investigation was released.

Ms Nessa was killed on September 17 while on a short walk to meet a friend in Kidbrooke, South London.
