San AAdvocates Appointments Of Judicial Officer By Merit

Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Joe Majebi has restated his commitment to a seamless administration of justice in the State judiciary.

Justice Majebi stated this at the Valedictory Court Session in honour of Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye of the Kogi State High Court Of Justice in Lokoja.

He described Justice Ajileye as a jurist per excellence not given to frivolities but a diligent and trustworthy judicial officer whose work in electronic evidence has been acknowledged within and outside the country.

Reacting to speeches from the Nigeria Bar Association, Lokoja chapter and representative of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Justice Majebi cautioned that adequate measures would be taken against any erring Magistrates or Judicial Officers.

In a message to the occasion, Governor Yahaya Bello assured of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of judicial Officers in the State.

Governor Bello called for continued partnership with the judicial arm to achieve the desired result.

Represented by Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sani Mohammed, SAN, the Governor thanked Justice Ajileye for the services rendered to the State.

Speaking on behalf of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Jibrin Okutepa called on Government at all levels to give credence to merit rather than a quota in the appointment of judicial Officers to higher positions.

Representative of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Ibrahim Alhassan while commending the retired high Court for being an erudite scholar, called for more attention to judicial Officers by the State Government to achieve set goals.

In his address, Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye called for the review of the appointment of judicial Officers in the country.

Justice Ajileye also urged judicial officers to dispense Justice without fear or favour or influence from any quarters but follow due process of the law.

He attributed his success in his years of active service to God and men whom he learn from and have his cutting edge in law practice and as judicial Officer.
