Governor Nasiru Elrufai of Kaduna State has expressed optimism over the deployment of 100 female troops on the Kaduna – Abuja highway to complement security patrol in the fight against banditry and kidnapping.
He stated this while welcoming the female officers in Kaduna.
Governor Elrufai expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for deploying the troops and assured them of continued government support tpwards addressing security challenges.
The governor also expressed confidence that the female troops would discharge their duty with highest standard of professionalism to improve security situation along Kaduna-Abuja highway.
He pointed out that deployment of additional soldiers along the Abuja – Kaduna was part of Operation Thunder Strike and other existing operations along the highways and environs to consolidate the successes recorded so far by the troops on ground.
“We believe in the capability of women in this State. “I am confident the road will be the safest in Nigeria with this deployment and we will do everything possible to make this operation comfortable.
Elrufai also expressed gratitude to President Mohammadu Buhari for appointing one of the sons of the state as Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru.
He however thanked the out going Service Chiefs for their immense contribution in the fight against insecurity in the state with professionalism.
Also speaking, Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Hadiza Balarabe charged the soldiers on the safety of commuters.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Kaduna, Major-General Usman Mohammed thanked Governor El-Rufai and his deputy for personally receiving the troops.
