The lawmaker representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District, under the Social Democratic party, SDP, Senator Godiya Akwashiki, has awarded the contract for the reconstruction of collapsed Kalma Bridge in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The collapsed bridge which links Kose, Gida, Lagu, Muggu and Ukambu communities and Farin Ruwa Development Area, was destroyed by an unknown person three months ago.
According to the lawmaker, when the bridge is reconstructed, it would reconnect the communities and boost their social-economic relations & statuses including Farin Ruwa Tourist Centre.
Senator Akwashiki who also awarded the construction of over 25 kilometres of road from Wamba – Ungo – Konvoh communities to Gidan Waya, Nasarawa Eggon, said he would continue to give back to his constituency as long as God keeps him alive.
“In two days, there will also be the construction of standard boreholes at Utugu community to enable get drinkable water and provision of electricity from Ungo to Konvoh community headquarters.’ ‘All these projects will be visible before the election. It is the good name I want as legacy, not building houses & buying properties in Abuja and abroad, the Senator added”.
While assuring the lawmaker of their resolve to re-elect him into the National Assembly, District Heads of Konvoh and Kose communities in Wamba, Abdullahi Ibrahim and Safiyanu Kose said, the collapsed bridge which has caused major setbacks to people of the areas in times of transportation and conveying their farm produces to market places would now add value to their day-to-day endeavours.
Some youths in the area, Mohammed Hamid, John Umaru and Bilkisu Hassan said with the coming of electricity and good roads, Senator Godiya Akwashiki has empowered them to establish businesses that would make them self-reliant and employers of labour adding that his re-election would go a long way to attract more developmental projects to Wamba Local Government Area.
