Senator representing Nasarawa South in Nasarawa State Tanko Almakura has called on traditional rulers across the country to be committed to unity and peaceful coexistence among the people for democracy and development to thrive.
Senator Almakura made the call during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Azara in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
He stressed the need for the traditional rulers to continue to work closely with the people at all times given their roles which are grassroots-based and advise the government on ways to maintain peace in their various communities.
Senator Tanko Almakura who pointed out that he was at the palace as part of his re-election campaign tour of the five local government areas of the Senatorial Zone, noted that he will remain consistent in providing good leadership to the people in line with their needs, especially rural road, health care and education.
The Emir of Azara, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim used the medium to appeal to the state to ward contract for the construction of the Azara road linking Plateau and Taraba states to boost economic growth in the area.
Senator Tanko Almakura during his campaign tour to Awe local government area also inaugurated a one-point five-kilometre road, three blocks of fifteen classrooms and hostels as well as solar electricity projects he embarked upon .
