Stakeholders Urged To Ensure a Credible 2023 Election

Stakeholders in the electioneering process have been urged to play their roles as contained in the Electoral Act and the nation’s constitution to ensure that the 2023 elections are free, fair, credible and peaceful.

Guest Speaker at the 2023 annual lecture of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Kwara state council, Malam Ola Olu Ali, stated this in his presentation at the event.

Represented by a Senior Lawyer, Mr Haruna Mahmood Malam Ola Olu Ali maintained that elections can only be peaceful if stakeholders play the game according to the rules.

in his remarks at the event, Chairman of, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Malam Atahiru Madami charged Nigerians to be responsible in exercising their franchise and conduct themselves modestly to ensure peaceful polls.

Madami reiterated the commitment of INEC to ensure free, fair and credible conduct of the elections, which is barely a few weeks to come.

The state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who was represented by his special adviser on Strategy, Alh Saadu Salahu, restated his administration’s continued support for the media and newsmen, serving and retiring in the state.

Chairman of the occasion, Prof Olu Obafemi who described the theme of the lecture “Towards a peaceful 2023 General Elections” as very apt, said democracy could not thrive if there are no free and fair elections.

He urged Nigerians not to vote along ethnic and religious lines to safeguard the unity and development of the country.

The event was attended by frontline traditional rulers, the state FRSC commandant, the state NSCDC commandant, the Police command commissioner, and the state director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) federal commissioner of National Population.
