The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has released the Guideline protocols for the gradual easing of the lockdown.
The Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha stated this at the daily briefing of the PTF in Abuja.
Mr. Mustapha said the action was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive on the step by step re-opening of the economy which will span for six weeks broken into three trenches of two weeks each.
The PTF Chairman said the phased strategy was designed to reduce the pains of socio-economic disruption while strengthening the public health response. Some of the guidelines include ban on inter-state travels except for movement of essential goods like Agro-products, petroleum products and essential services.
Also, offices and businesses that will be allowed to gradually re-opened will be mandated to fumigate and decontaminate their environment, provide hand sanitizers and hand washing facilities and mandatory use of face masks.
The National Co-ordinator of the PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu who also highlighted some of the guidelines said Government workers will be allowed to resume work however noting that specifications on the levels and number of staff will be considered.
He said banks will be allowed to open for operations from 8:00am to 2:00pm within the week. The Co-ordinator of the PTF however said schools will remain closed while the e-learning platforms will still be in operation.
