Tuberculosis: Stakeholders Advocate Functional Health Care System

Stakeholders in the Health sector wants the Federal Government to put in place functional health care systems to effectively control Tuberculosis in the country.

The Executive Director of KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation at the Hague in the Netherlands Dr. Mustapha Gidado made the call during a virtual press conference.

 Dr. Gidado said due to the COVID-19 pandemic several interventions made by the health body have been weakened which might lead to increase in more TB deaths in the country.

He however noted that Governments can also leverage on the existing resources for the COVID-19 to improve the overall health care systems.

The Executive Director of KNCV called for more community participation and engagement as well as awareness to reduce the prevalence of TB in the country.

Dr. Gidado expressed the readiness of his organization to work with countries that have high burden TB to ensure effective care is provided for all patients.

He therefore urged the media to continue to play it’s unique role of informing the public on the prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis.
