University Don Says No Synergy Between 5G Technology And Coronavirus


Nigerians have been enjoined to disregard believe in some certain quarters that deployment of Fifth generation technology also known as 5G leads to outbreak of Coronavirus.

Dean, Faculty of Information and Communication Science, University of Ilorin, Professor Rasheed Jimoh allayed the fear in an exclusive interview with Correspondent Lanre Omotoso.

Professor Jimoh said technology had been evolving from analog phone to present day third and fourth generation phones that many Nigerians use for internet purposes, stressing that there is no relationship between technology and COVID-19.

The Professor of Computer Science explained that deployment of fifth generation technology is about artificial intelligence which involve improved speedy internet to enhance Communication between human being and other devices such as cars and computers.

He explained that sensor may be implanted in the office drawer and home entrance to establish communication so that computer could behave like human being.

While noting that there are health challenges that come through radiation from electromagnetic waves such as radio station and telecommunication masts, Professor Jimoh advised those in authority to put measures in place before deployment of Fifth generation technology in Nigeria to curb any health risk that may arise.
